University of Oregon Museum of Art.

Reopeed January 23, 2005, the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art at the University of Oregon welcomes visitors to a vibrant new museum. The new facility is nearly twice the size of the former building, offering dramatically expanded and redesigned spaces in which you will discover galleries featuring American, European, Korean, Chinese, and Japanese art that will be enhanced with a series of special exhibitions and a full complement of inviting programs. With 14 galleries and a collection of 12,500 objects, it is the second largest art museum in the state. There is an outstanding collection of Asian art, Northwest art and photography. University of Oregon Museum of Natural and Cultural History.

The University of Oregon Museum of Natural and Cultural History unfolds mysteries about Oregon's natural sciences and human cultures. Through changing exhibitions, educational programs, family events, and informative tours, the museum interprets Oregon's past and present. Created in the 1930s (the current building opened in 1987), the Museum features 500,000 objects, 30,000 of which are displayed. Exhibits explore the archaeology and fossil history of Oregon, animals, plants, environmental topics and human cultures. In recent years, the driving force behind the research, exhibits, and collections at the Museum has been the study of archaeology, and the scientific exploration of the life and culture of early peoples.

Science Factory Children's Museum & Planetarium.

On the grounds of Alton Baker Park, the Science Factory Children's Museum is dedicated to playful learning, scientific exploration and minds-on activities. The Science Factory provides thousands of opportunities for kids to explore their curiosity and creativity through more than 50 interactive hands-on exhibits, a state-of-the-art planetarium, live reptiles, a computer laboratory, changing weekly activities, innovative educational programming, thematic special events, field trips, tours, and summer adventure science camps. Oregon Air and Space Museum.

Experience a unique collection of military and civilian aircarft, artifacts and memorabilia for public display. This museum offers the Wall of Oregon Aces and 805 aircraft models built by master modeler David Galbraith. Open: Wednesday through Sunday, noon to 4 p.m. For information, call (541) 461-1101.

Lane County Historical Museum.

Established in 1951, it displays a wide range of exhibits from the 1840s to the present. Located next to the Lane Event Center (built in 1980), it includes exhibits on the Oregon Trail, logging in Lane County, architecture and historic vehicles. The museum is home of the County Clerks Office, the first public building erected in Lane County and held the first jury trial in 1853.  [Top]

Eugene Celebration.

Eugene's quintessential annual festival, the Eugene Celebration was created in 1983 to bring together the Eugene community for three days of music and revelry. Today, the Celebration is the most celebrated event in the southern Willamette Valley, attracting 60,000 participants during the event. The Celebration is anchored by five performance stages located throughout the streets, parks and open spaces of downtown Eugene. The stages are linked by street performers, face painters, food vendors, beverage gardens, a marketplace, the Kid Zone, and a non-profit venue. In addition to outstanding musical performances, the festival features he Mayor's Art Show, the Salon des Refuses, the Celebration Cycling Classic, the Celebration Run, Pet Parade, and popular Celebration Parade. The Marketplace represents small businesses, cottage industries and crafts people who represent the economic and ethnic diversity of community. Oregon Bach Festival.
