Are there any non-recreational activities near the river?
The newest non-recreational activity to hit the area is wine tasting. Arcane Cellars, which is the very first business to be a part of the Willamette River Water Trail, is situated inside the channel behind Wheatland Bar. Park your kayak, raft or canoe and head inside for a crisp chardonnay or rich pinot noir. And if you can’t do without recreation, you're in luck as the winery features its very own bocce ball court.
When is the best time to go fishing?
You can actually fish in the Willamette River all year long. However, the optimum time to bring out the rod and reel is from April through October. You can come during the fall and winter months and do well but it all depends on the river levels. As for fish, you can look forward to catching cutthroat and rainbow trout. There’s also a catch and release section for wild trout where bait is not allowed.
